The ripping tool is used for driving out tacks and stripping frames of fabric, welting, gimp, etc.In using a ripping tool, wedge the blade under the tack head or fabric and tap the end of the handle sharply but gently with the side of your tack hammer head. This should drive out the tack and/or release the fabric.Always be sure the flat bottom of the ripping blade lies flat on the frame to prevent gouging into the wood frame.
